The Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) has announced the appointment of a caretaker management team to lead the national team for the next two games. Dennis Rose, the chief executive of SFF, made the statement on Thursday, emphasizing the need to continue preparations for upcoming matches following the expiration of the previous national team’s management contract after the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).

To facilitate a smooth transition, the SFF has chosen to appoint a caretaker management team while the necessary procedures are undertaken to select a full-time coach. Leading the team in the next two games, scheduled for November against Cote d’Ivoire and Kenya, will be Jean-Louis, a former Seychelles player who played a crucial role in securing the country’s first-ever gold medal at the IOIG in 2011.

Jean-Louis expressed confidence in meeting the challenge posed by the upcoming fixtures and emphasized his intention to introduce new training methods to strengthen the team. In order to finalize the best selection, he will be scouting players during the upcoming league games and considering the inclusion of fresh talent in the national team.

Regarding the prospect of becoming the full-time coach, Jean-Louis stated that while he would have preferred a more long-term engagement, he is open to considering it when the time comes. As a former midfielder, Jean-Louis represented the Seychelles national team for 11 years and played for clubs such as Bel Air, Anse Aux Pins, and St Michel. He has previously served as Seychelles’ head coach in 2011 and from 2015 to 2016, achieving notable success.

Assisting Jean-Louis during the two upcoming games will be Basil Hoareau, a young coach from Cote d’Or who recently obtained his Confederation of African Football License A qualification. Rose highlighted the importance of combining fresh ideas from a younger coach with the experience provided by Jean-Louis, creating a well-rounded management team.

With the caretaker management team in place, the SFF aims to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the team’s momentum as they prepare for the upcoming matches. The appointment reflects the federation’s commitment to the development and success of Seychelles’ national football team.
