In another exciting derby match of the Seychelles Premier League Round 9, Foresters FC and Saint Louis battled it out at the Stad Linite, ultimately ending in a 1-1 draw. Saint Louis took the lead in the first half, but Foresters fought back to secure a share of the points.
The first half belonged to Saint Louis, as Foresters struggled to pose a significant threat. However, just before halftime, Darrel Damoo found the back of the net with an impressive header, giving Saint Louis a 1-0 advantage.
The second half saw Foresters shift gears and create several promising opportunities to equalize. Brandon Labrosse was a standout player, coming close to scoring on multiple occasions. However, the true star for Foresters was Ryan Henriette, nicknamed ‘Batman.’ He showcased his skills by beating opponents on the wing and providing dangerous crosses, but unfortunately, his teammates failed to convert his assists into goals.
It wasn’t until the 77th minute when Henriette delivered a cross, and this time, Gervais Waye-Hive unintentionally headed the ball into his own net, resulting in the equaliser for Foresters. The match ended with a 1-1 scoreline.
Aside from the own goal, Waye-Hive had an impressive performance, notably showing his prowess from free-kicks with a few close attempts on goal.
Unfortunately, an incident marred the first half when a bottle was thrown onto the field from the Saint Louis stand, causing a temporary halt in the match. Thankfully, no injuries occurred, and it is hoped that such scenes will not be witnessed again in the future.
