We caught up with Nolin Cliff from Northern Dynamo for a quick chat after their impressive victory against La Passe FC on Praslin island. Congratulations to them on a significant and crucial win!
Seysoccer: Could you please share your thoughts on the game against La Passe FC?
Nolin Cliff: It was an interesting match. Dynamo implemented well-calculated tactics. I was truly impressed with our young players’ performance. We utilised a compact defensive block, intelligent pressing, and clinical attacks. Our disciplined positional play made the difference. Ball possession served as both an offensive tool and a defensive strategy. By controlling the ball, Dynamo dictated the game tempo, limiting La Passe’s opportunities for their usual tactics.
Seysoccer: How pleased are you with Northern Dynamo’s performance this season?
Nolin Cliff: We prioritise the development of our young players, aiming to make them not only the best footballers but also better citizens of Seychelles. Overall, the season is highly competitive but lacks quality. Without a clear and concrete structure, survival becomes a constant battle in all walks of life. There is evidence indicating that most clubs lack ideas in the offensive third. Our players often struggle with responsibilities and lack mental speed at the required level. These difficulties hinder our ability to compete among the best in Africa.
We plan to have a more extensive conversation with Cliff at the end of the season, respecting their need for focus.
Seysoccer has often praised Northern Dynamo for their highly organised style of play and consistent passing, regardless of the opponent. Northern Dynamo’s tight relegation battle has been ongoing, and it would be unfortunate to see them drop to the Seychelles Championship. In the end, one or two clubs will face relegation, as is the nature of competitive sports.
Their next match against Anse Reunion on Praslin island promises to be an intense battle between two teams striving to avoid relegation.
