Mont Fleuri 3-4 Revengers | Seychelles Championship

Revengers entered the match as the clear favourites, having finished third in the Seychelles Championship last season, while Mont Fleuri had been fighting against relegation.

Before the season began, there were expectations that star player Jean Aimarthelin would leave Mont Fleuri for a club in the Seychelles Premier League. However, the team managed to retain his services, a crucial decision given his significant contributions in the past. Aimarthelin made his mark early in the match, scoring in the 3rd minute to give Mont Fleuri a 1-0 lead.

Revengers quickly responded, showcasing their attacking strength. By the 11th minute, they had taken a 2-1 lead, with goals from Rahoto Tahinasoa and Kenny Nibourette. The first half ended with Revengers ahead, leaving Mont Fleuri to regroup for the second half.

The second half saw a resurgence from Mont Fleuri, as Aimarthelin struck again in the 51st minute, equalising the score at 2-2. However, Revengers were not to be outdone, and Tahinasoa found the net once more in the 57th minute, restoring their lead at 3-2.

As the match approached its conclusion, young Joseph Whittingham scored in the 85th minute, making it 3-3 and giving Mont Fleuri hope for a point. However, in a dramatic finish, Mandimbiniaina Tonny Raveloson Andrianrakasoa scored the decisive goal for Revengers in the dying moments, sealing a 4-3 victory.

Jean Aimarthelin scored two goals in the match but missed a penalty that would have secured his first hat-trick of the season.

This match raised questions about Aimarthelin’s ability to replicate last season’s heroics. Despite scoring two goals and missing a penalty, he proved once again to be Mont Fleuri’s standout player. His performances will be crucial as the team aims to avoid relegation. The match showcased the competitive nature of the league and highlighted the challenges faced by Mont Fleuri as they strive for survival while Revengers continue to build on their successful campaign.
