PL-Match-Report

On 24 October 2024, Real Maldive faced off against Northern Dynamo at Stad Linite in a thrilling encounter that ended with a score of 5-4. The match showcased a dramatic comeback from Real Maldive, who found themselves trailing at half-time with a score of 1-3.

In the opening 7 minutes, Real Maldive had a promising chance when Josip Ravignia took a shot, but Liam Esther made a crucial save. During this period, Real Maldive also hit the post and appealed for a penalty, suggesting an early dominance that hinted at a potential easy win. However, the match quickly turned in favour of Northern Dynamo. Between the 14th and 36th minutes, they scored three goals (Angelito Kalo, Sambatra Joelson and Shakib Rose), establishing a surprising 0-3 lead. This performance mirrored the passing style that had characterised their previous season, raising hopes that they might regain their form.

Just before the half-time break, Jose Raharijaona scored for Real Maldive, bringing the score to 1-3. In the closing moments of the first half, they had another opportunity, but Liam Esther was once again equal to the task, denying them another goal.

The second half saw Real Maldive exerting more control and pressure. In the 60th minute, Marlon Rose reduced the deficit to 2-3, signalling a shift in momentum. The pressure intensified for Northern Dynamo, and in the 84th minute, Jocelyn Fenosoa equalised at 3-3. Fenosoa has now scored in three consecutive matches, indicating his current form.

Things took another turn when Marlon Rose missed a penalty in the 87th minute, only for him to score from the rebound, giving Real Maldive a 4-3 lead. Just when it seemed Northern Dynamo would succumb to the comeback, they earned a penalty, which Raj converted, making it 4-4.

With five minutes of added time shown, and two already gone, it appeared the match would end in a draw. However, in the 96th minute, a long ball from the Real Maldive goalkeeper found Jocelyn Fenosoa, who scored the winner. There were discussions among fans about whether Fenosoa was offside, but the goal stood, securing three points for Real Maldive.

Jocelyn scored twice, Marlon Rose added two, and Liam Esther conceded five. Yet, he deserves Man of the Match for numerous crucial saves, including a penalty. Well done, Liam!
